$500 For Aged Peoples’ Home

A cheque for $5OO, a gift from the Rotary Club of Christchurch to the Lyttelton Rotary Club’s Cressy House Aged Peoples’ Residence Appeal, was presented to the chairman of the Cressy House trust board (Mr F. I. Sutton) this week. The cheque was handed over by the retiring chairman of the Lyttelton club’s community service committe (Mr J. B. Graham) at the annual meeting of the club. Mr Sutton told the meeting that it was hoped to begin alterations to the former maternity annex soon and open the home to residents before Christmas. Officers elected were: president, Mr R. H. Blatchford: vice-president, Mr L. M. Andrews; secretary, Mr K. G. Richdale; treasurer, Mr A. F. Mitchell; directors, Messrs I. Wales, R. N. Bowater and A. I W. Wheldale.
