The Budget
Sir,—By saying that the Budget puts into effect many of the recommendations of the National Development Conference, Mr R. C. Wallace, president of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce, confirmed my view that this conference was used as a smokescreen by the Government to deceive the electors. Mr Wallace was wrong in saying that everyone benefited by the Budget because its chief beneficiaries were the vested interests who have continually slashed the purchasing power of wage and salary earners and social security beneficiaries by vicious price increases.—Yours, etc., DISILLUSIONED NATIONALIST. June 30, 1969.
