Mishaps With Augers
Grain augers had been responsib e for a number of accidents, said Mr 1. ft. Donaldaori, of Mid-Canterbury, to tnO Dominion Agriculture section of Federated Farmers iOTimaru. Mr Donaldson auggested that grain hoppers should be fitted With a mesh. Which would keep children from getting their .hands in, and Which WOUld be strong enough to support the Weight 6t a man.
Mr A. L. Mulholland (Darfield), agreed with Mr Donaldson, saying the sight of a cone Of wheat running from a hopper bad a fascination not Ohly to Children but also 10 adults.
The Conference decided to ack the Agricultural Engineering Institute at Lincoln to investigate the use of safety grilles.
