RELIEF FOR BIAFRA

Supply Ship Arrives

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) LAGOS, June 20.

An American-built World War II landing ship arrived at Lagos yesterday to open a new river route for mercy shipments to Biafra, which has been hit by a stoppage of vital airlifts.

The vessel, the 200 ft Donna Mercedes, sailed in after a transatlantic voyage. It is the first of two ex-landing ships which will be used to transport relief supplies up the Cross River into Biafra, with the agreement of Federal and secessionist authorities.

The second vessel, the Donna Maria, is expected at Lagos soon, informed sources said. Both ships will be run by the International Red Cross.
