FARM NOT SOLD
Owners Refuse $66,850 Bids totalling $66,850 — more than double the 1963 Government valuations—were refused when a 444-acre farm near Coalgate was offered in three lots at auction on Wednesday. The property is owned by Cardros Park Farm, Ltd. directors of which are the Watson brothers. It has been in the bands of the Watson family for 90 years. The first block, with a fourbedroom brick homestead, is of 189 acres. It was passed in at $2OO an acre, or $37,800. The Government valuation is $19,400. The land is in 12 paddocks. Lot two, of 155 acres, was passed in at $llO an acre, or $17,050. The Government valuation is $7340. There are seven paddocks and no buildings. The highest bid for the remaining 100-acre block, a mile from the homestead, was $12,000, double the Government valuation. The land is in five paddocks and has no buildings. A block of 17 acres 38.5 perches in Coalgate township was passed in at $lOO an acre at the same auction. With six titles it was offered as one block on account of Mr S. M. Watson, sen. The land has no buildings. Another block in Coalgate was passed in at $lOO an acre. Of three acres three roods 29.75 perches it was offered on account of Klondyke Collieries, Ltd. It has 15 surveyed sections and no buildings. The auctioneer was Mr W. Steele, of Dalgety and New Zealand Loan, Ltd.
