Grahams Road Land Use

Government departments will be asked if they are interested in Crown land at Grahams Road which the Waimairi County Council wants to take over as a recreation reserve. The town-planning committee, reporting to a meeting of the council last evening, said that the Education Department wanted 10 acres of the Crown block adjacent to Burnside High School, and the rest of the land might be sold by the Crown for house sections. The block intended for Flay Park was at present leased and it was intended to zone the whole block as a recreational reserve in the council’s 1970 review of its town-planning scheme.
