Prizes Unwrapped

The Governor-Genera] (Sir Arthur Porritt) and Lady Porritt knelt on the carpet in the Government House lounge yesterday to help three schoolgirls unwrap the prizes they had won in a safety essay competition. The presentation was made by Sir Arthur Porritt and the girls were congratulated by the Minister of Electricity (Mr Shand). The first prize was won by Jennifer Somervell, of Takapau, and Alison Baker, of Kaiapoi, and Wendy Green, of Kerepehi, near Paeroa, were second and third respectively—(P.A.)
