m.Z,P.A..Reuter—Copyright) RIO DE JANEIRO, June 15. A police driver has been sentenced to a total of 202 years in prison for helping to drown eight beggars in rivers on the outskirts of Rio. Anizio Magalhaes da Costa, a chauffeur in the Public Security Department, is one of 10 police workers accused of drowning 13 beggars in 1960. The court was told on Friday that three times da Costa drove with police to the Guandu and Guarda Rivers on the outskirts of Rio, and threw eight beggars in to drown.
