Thirty New Aircraft

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 11. Thirty new aircraft would arrive in New Zealand next year for the armed services, the Minister of Defence (Mr Thomson) told Parliament today. From January, delivery was expected of 14 Skyhawk ground attack aircraft; also early in the year delivery would be taken of nine Iroquois and seven Sioux helicopters, the Minister said.

He had been asked by, Mr A. McCready (Nat, Otaki) about progress on delivery of equipment being purchased from the United States under loan arrangements. Mr Thomson said the aircraft were among major items expected to be received next year. The helicopters will cost about s6m, and the Skyhawks about s24m.
