C.G.C. Debate To Toko

The top North Island team won the final of the New Zealand Federation of Country Girls’ dubs debating contest in Christchurch last evening. The team took the negative side on the subject: “That the elimination of all forms of racial prejudice is possible in the society of the future." The winning team, from the Toko Country Girls’ Club in Central Taranaki, was Mesdames Glenda Death, Marie Walter and Ann Lees. The South Island finalist was a team from the Oxford club in North Canterbury. Mrs Lees, of Toko, was judged the best speaker. Judges for the debate were Messrs J. A. Sheat (Dunsandel), Mr L. Boyles (Christchurch) and Mr J. Milligan (Christchurch).
