Application For Club
A second application by the promoters of a proposed Cashmere chartered club has been made to the Heathcote County Council. Notice of the application has been advertised, and objections will close on July 12. Four objections to the proposal were made at the time objections closed for the original application on March 17, but the promoters withdrew their application for a specified departure from the council’s planning scheme because more land was needed. The present application is in respect of four acres, 20 perches in Colombo Street through to Hunter Terrace, which is zoned residential. Objections to the original application were made by three nearby residents, and from the trustees of the estate owning the Sandridge Hotel in Colombo Street. A spokesman for the proposed club said at the time of the first application that there had been sufficient interest to warrant another application being made, but more definite assurances of financial support were needed before a fresh application for a greater area of land was made.
