Man And Space
Sir, —Your editorial, “Man and Space,” aptly describes the present situation in re-' ferring to the assertion of Harry Schwartz, of the “New York Times,” that space research is not unifying mankind, but “dividing them further, driving nations to spend vast sums of money they can ill afford.” By the logic of first things first, instead of moon landings these vast sums should be devoted to the relief of hunger and povery of two-thirds of the people of the earth.—Yours, etc.,
SETH NEWELL, June 5, 1969.
