Application Declined

(N.Z. Press Association) ’ GREYMOUTH. The New Zealand Racing Conference has declined an application by the Westport Jockey Club to hold its October meeting at Riccarton. Advice of this has been received by the Greymouth District Committee. The conference feels the Westport Club’s dates should be used within its own district and has suggested Greymouth as an alternative venue.

The club was seeking to race at Riccarton because repairs of earthquake damage to its own course will not be completed by October.

Rosa Matched.—The world bantam-weight boxing champion, L. Rose (Australia) has arrived in Honolulu to start a week’s training for a non-title 10-round bout against E. De La Cruz (Mexico) on June 10.
