WELLINGTON, June 5. Girls willing to learn some basic Japanese will be given preference in the selection of waitresses and other staff for the Meat Board's restaurant at Expo 70 in Osaka next year.

Selection will commence next week when 500 girls will be interviewed throughout the country, the board said in a statement today. A panel will visit the four main centres to interview applicants still remaining after a preliminary screening of applicants. About 1000 girls have applied.
