Money Not Enough?

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Money alone would not get professional golfers of the calibre of Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Lee Trevino to compete in the proposed $50,000 City of Auckland sponsored golf tournament. Mr Mark McCormack, who manages the affairs of many of the world’s leading golfers, said this yesterday. He is in Auckland for three days on business and to meet the New Zealand Professional Golfers’ Association tomorrow to discuss the Auckland event. Asked if guaranteed air fares might be an extra incentive, he said: “That is the type of thing that could bring them here."
