Sports Club Rents

A review of all rents paid by sports bodies occupying City Council reserve land was authorised by the council last evening. The review was prompted by the parks and recreation committees’ report on the Hagley Golf Club’s request for extension of its playing area, an extension of its pavilion and a lease from the council for the area occupied in North Hagley Park.

The club was given a lease for the'area to be occupied by its pavilion, but not over the 60 acres used as a golf course. The rent for the pavilion site was fixed at $5O, and the rent for the golf course at $7OO, both to be reviewed every five years. At present the club pays $260 a year.
