Assurance On Hospitals

(N.Z. Press Association) , WELLINGTON, May 16. The Minister of Health (Mr McKay) gave Parliament an assurance today that there would be full consultation between the Government and hospital boards and their staff on any transfer of mental hospitals from Health Department administration to hospital board control. Proposed amendments to the Mental Health Act, 1911, Bill give the Minister of Health power to transfer the provision of mental health care from the control of the Health Department to hospital boards, with the assent of the boards.
