Country Girls To Visit Australia
Two members of New Zealand Country Girls’ Clubs have won trips to Australia.
They are: Miss Heather Stewart, ef Waipukurau, and Miss Alison Sing, of Morrins, ville. They were selected recently from seven district finalists of the New Zealand federation. Miss Stewart, who won the competition, will go to New South Wales under the Sank of New South Wales sponsored award, and Miss sing, as runner-up, won the A,N,Z. Bank ' tour of Tasmania. Miss Stewart, during her three-month stay jn Nct South Wales, will be billeted by members of the Rural Youth Organisation and will have the opportunity of seeing Australian farming methods and way of life at first hand, She will also address gatherings on various
aspects of New Zealand farming. with which she is familiar. For the igst two years and a half Miss Stewart has been teaching at the Tikokino primary sehool, where she has taken an active interest in community activities. Her personal interests inelude musie. dressmaking, education, tennis, and swimming M ss sing, a doctor’s reeeptioniat, will leave In September for Tasmania, Other finalists competing aaw.'.ws; £e»t»| Sh d rlß >’ Roberts (Fairlie), and Rosemarie Boros (Te Kulti). Miss B. Medlieott, Dominion president of the New Zealand Country Girls' Federation, said that the standard of the finalists was high and that the selection panel had a difficult job in deciding the winners.
