B. Howie, telephoned the Commonwealth Serum Laboratories in Melbourne today and asked for three pints of the blood to be flown to Dunedin. Scientists worked throughout the day to prepare the blood for the Journey. A spokesman said Vel-
negative blood was held at minus 140 deg Fahrenheit and the plasma and red cells were separated. When the blood was needed for transfusion the frozen packages of .plasma and cells were thawed and reconstituted, he said.
