FLAMES AND SMOKE ERUPT from a barge carrying 840,000 gallons of high octane fuel after explosions ripped it from moorings at La Grange, Missouri, and it became lodged against the Quincy railway bridge. The engine at left is being used to spray water on the bridge in an effort to keep it from being damaged by heat and flames.
