GLENROY SCHOOL TO MARK ANNIVERSARY
One hundred and sixty past pupils and present pupils of the Glenroy School, near Glentunnel, will attend the eightieth anniversary celebrations tomorrow. While the bulk will be from round Christchurch some will be from Masterton, Wellington, and Southland and one former pupil is travelling from Auckland. Among the visitors will be former teachers and committee members. Special guests include Mr D. Waghorn, the representative for the area on the Canterbury Education Board and the Anglican minister for Hororata (Canon D. D. Thorpe). After the calling of the roll and the taking of photographs, a thanksgiving service, conducted by a former pupil, Mr G. Bennett will be held at the school. At 1 p.m. 160 diners will attend a banquet in a mar-
quee in the school grounds and at 5.30 p.m. there will be a buffet tea in the hall. A dance will be held on Saturday night.
An extensive display of early artifacts from the district will be on display at the school.
Two trees will be planted, one to commemorate former pupils who died in war and the other an anniversary tree to be planted by the eldest former pupil and the youngest present pupil. These are an aunt and niece, Miss L. Dennis, aged 91, and Miss A. Dennis,-aged five.
