OUTSIZE CHEESE.—The largest Cheddar cheese to come to the South Island travelled through Christchurch streets on a decorated float accompanied by a “dairy maid” (Miss Lesley Mclntosh) and three “mice” yesterday morning. The cheese, made by the New Zealand Co-operative Rennet Company. Ltd, at its Eltham factory in Taranaki, was taken to Hay’s, Ltd, at the Northlands shopping centre. A contest to guess the weight of the cheese will be held this week, and the winner will have the first slice. It will then be cut up and distributed to customers.
