Spacecraft Near Venus

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) MOSCOW, May 14. Two Russian spacecraft are approaching the cloirishrouded planet Venus, near the end of a four-month, 155-million-mile journey through space. The two craft, Venus-5 and Venus-6, both packed with instruments to analyse the planet’s dense, scorching atmosphere, are due to make a soft landing on Friday and Saturday. Venus-5 is programmed to descend on the day side of the planet, and Venus-6 on the night side. Both capsules are carrying bas-relief portraits of Lenin and the Soviet State seal, in addition to scientific instruments.
