Robinson) over five furlongs on the inside I grass in Imin 3 4-ssec, and con- .; tinued a strong gallop to run ' the last three furlongs in 38 ; 3-ssec. ■ Conditions were ideal, and Ithe track fast. Over the same ground. Dark Supreme (J. R. Dowling) and Pee Wee (T. Gore) were on terms in Imin 4 l-ssec, the first two furlongs in 24 2-ssec. Spick and Span (J. D. Pankhurst) ran the first furlong in 12 2*Ssec and" came homo in imin 4 2-ssec. Pollyvon (M. Cnttance). which is due to have her first start in the Novice Stakes at Invercargill, galloped with Berwin (B. P. Kennedy) and Gay Pinza (R. McAra) in imin 5 2-ssec. This time was equalled by Just Jenny (C. Lott), which shaded Belfie (D. Adams) and Pal Paigle (AL Kennedy). ; Over half a mile. Wattle’s Wish <B. J. Anderton) and New Imp (JI. McKeown) worked with dash in 52sec, the last three furlongs in 39sec. Ski (E. J. Didham) ran six furlongs in Imin 17 4-ssec, and was joined by Big Bang (L. Didham) over the last five furlongs in imin 4 2-ssec. Dime «P. Silver) and My Era TA. K. Robinson) were together in Imin 13 3-ssec. keeping up an evenly-run gallop over the last three furlongs in 39 3-ssec. Palisade (E. J. Didham) and Bank Again (M. Denton) were not out for time when they ran five furlongs on the sand in imin 8 2-ssec, the first two furlongs in 26 3-ssec. Both horses, which are rival candidates for
the Pressmen’s Handicap at Invercargill. worked exceptionally well. Bank Again left hack company on a winning note at Nelson and Palisade impressed by !he manner in which he finished sixth at the Dunedin Anzac Day meeting when having his first race for a year. Their stablemate. Bargain Hunter, a runaway winner of the sprint at Invercargill on Saturday, will test the opposition in the Westport Handicap at Riccarton on Tuesday.
Abolight (P. J. Silver) and David Porter (E. J. Didham). half-brothers of Palisade, were together in Imin 7 3-ssec, the first two furlongs in 25 3-ssec. Flexible (J. L. Coulter) and Coral Tan (M. Denton) ran tne last three furlongs of their trial in 39 4-ssec. Flexible missed his race at Invercargill last week because of a cold, but he appears to have thrown it off.
Etassem impressed by the manner in which he schooled over a round of the steeplechase fences. He will be a wellsupported candidate for the Haast Steeplechase at Riccarton after his decisive win at Wingatui on Anzac Day, when having his first test over country. . Beau Coup (Q. Mee), The Medico (A. K. Robinson). El Keba (B. P. Kennedy), and Golden Supreme (G.: Mee) all jumped well over several flights of hurdles. ,E 1 Keba. which like Golden Supreme, jumped solo, gave a particularly pleasing performance. El Keba will be ridden by B. P. Kennedy at Invercargill. The Medico will be ridden by A. K. Robinson at Riccarton.
