Fisher held fast

The former New Zealand prop, J. H. Fisher (Canterbury) held fast in a tackle by E. B. Mann (No. 11) and another West Coast forward during the Rugby League Cup match at the Show Grounds on Saturday.

Fisher, who was a schoolboy Kiwi in 1955 and 1956 before winning senior international honours when New Zealand toured Australia in 1963, was making a come-back to representative football after a season’s absence. The experience 28-year-old Fisher has acquired in nine seasons of first-class football should be a valuable asset to the Addington team which has become a warm favourite to win the Canterbury club premiership this season.
