R.J. Skelton May Ride Gisborne Double

The Pres'S” Special Service

HASTINGS.

The leading jockey, R. J. Skelton, is expected to ride the winners of the T.A.B. double at Gisborne tomorrow. He has the mount on the good Wairoa mare, Bellamour, in the Gisborne Handicap, and on Chill in the seven-furlong Members’ Handicap.

I Bellainour, which won the Goodbehere Handicap at ■Feilding three starts back, (was a fair sixth ip the Te Mahanga Handicap at Hastings at her most recent attempt. She has had time to freshien since then, and with Skelton up makes considerable appeal for the Gisborne Handicap, which has not drawn a ! particularly strong field. Mr Charlie won the Muruipara Handicap decisively on Saturday from Llanace, and should again be prominent, but if Bellamour shows her best she should beat him. Faded Badly Backfire faded badly in the; run home on Saturday, and was , never really going well. On; that run he could not be selec-j ted to win here, but if he were! I able to get to the front and make his own rules, he would give a better account of him' , self. , Llanace will meet Mr Charlie, (on 51b better terms tomorrow.; but even this may not be sufficient to enable him to turn the tables. Te Awhitu, which was fourth, and Golden Guy. which ran, fifth last Saturday, would need to improve substantially to win.; One which should take beating; is the hack graduate, True Alien, which has run up a string of seconds lately. The track at Gisborne was fast for Saturday’s racing, and it is likely it will be much the same tomorrow, in that case it would not suit Redaire,; but it would suit Chill, which ran on solidly for fifth in the: six furlongs Midway Handicap. Members' Handicap (lull needed that race, and

will appreciate the extra furlong of the Members’ Handicap. Meum, which won on Saturday, and Sunvalley Mist, which ran second, are likely to be prominent again, and with considerably the better of the weights 'Sunvalley Mist may be 100 good for the Matangi gelding. The best of the others might well be Dasheen, which was third two lengths and a half behind Meum and Sunvalley Mist in the Midway Handicap on Saturday. She was running on, and the extra furlong could be in her favour.
