LATEST KOMBI

The latest version of the eight-seater Volkswagen Kombi is now available in New Zealand. The vehicle has a redesigned front, is wider than previous models and can carry a heavier load, and the position of the engine and heater air-intakes has been changed.

The Kombi is powered by a 1600 c.c. flat-four engine, a development of the 1500 c.c. unit used to power the latest “Beetles.” The engine is mounted in a separate compartment, and is said to be quieter than in previous models.

The luxury version of the Kombi Microbus will cost about $4600 in New Zealand. It is fitted with special seats, and the floor is carpeted throughout.
