No entry stood after the fourth Jackpot race at To Rapa on Saturday, so that the pool on the third day of the meeting next Saturday will start at SU.3U.M. A mounting interest In the jackpot brought a record of >3041.50 yesterday, «nd although the club provided 12 selling windows some 200 would-be betters were shut out. In an effort to accommodate

the many entries expected next Saturday, the club will open selling windows at 8.30 a.m. These will close 10 minutes before the scheduled starting time of the first jackpot race. The chairman of the Waikato district committee, Mr F. Johnstone, has discounted rumours that the jackpot will be ended next Saturday; “There is nothing In the rules to say that we can do this, even if we wanted to;” he said yesterday. "The pool will accumulate until it is struck.” Some racegoers had been under the impression that if no entrant selected six winners next Saturday, the pool would be awarded to the person or persons selecting the most winners.
