SURVEY OF DARFIELD

Planning For Future A survey of Darfield to guide its development and a report on street standards was called for from the County Engineer (Mr W. J. Bevis) at the first meeting of the Darfield County Town Committee. Cr A. D. Worsfold told a Malvern County Council meeting yesterday that it was felt wise to plan ahead in relation to such things as the possibility of sewers and underground power lines being laid. Mr T. E. Pearson was elected' chairman of the com-' mittee with the County Clerk (Mr B. W. Perrin) as secretary. Told that the horticulture department at Lincoln College was having classes in road and street beautification, the committee agreed to offer Darfield as a suitable town for the project. Mr Perrin told the committee that it should consider the possibility of a separate development rate for the town, and a fire protection rate after the watersupply was installed and the brigade got a bigger allocation.
