Slower Growth
The Roman Catholic Church in the United States reported today that there have been marked decreases in the last year in the numbers in America of clergymen, nuns, teachers, schools and places of worship, and the smallest membership growth in a quarter of a century. Membership increased by 404,905 to a total of 47,873,238, the smallest gain since 1944.—New York, May 7.
