Fire Losses Lower

(N.Z. Press Association)

GISBORNE, M»y 6. Fire loss payments in New Zealand last year totalled $8,224,038, according to ‘ a report presented by the president of the Urban Fire Authorities’ Association (Mr W R. Campbell) to its annual meeting in Gisborne today. This was a reduction of $1,328,514 on the figure for 1967, which had risen steeply to $9,552,532, Mr Campbell said.

He emphasised, however, that such comparisons did not give a reliable guide towards the incidence of fire outbreaks.
