Full Figure Better

(By NORMAN HARTNELL) LONDON. An over-weight customer came into my saloon the other day and apologised for being too heavy. “It can’t be much fun to dress someone fat” she said. I told her I actually preferred dressing fatter people to thinner people, as it was more of a challenge and far more interesting. And so it is.

Ever since Twiggy came along, we have become preoccupied with stick-like women. But why should twigs be an emblem of beauty? The Venus de Milo was definitely outsize, for example. If your doctor says yog are so over-weight you must diet that is another thing. But if you are happy as you are, and healthy, just enjoy life. Fat people are often happier, and nicer to know.

Why hot accept the fact that two or more children mean an inch on the waistline? Accept the fact that girlish figures are for girlish styles. Women’s clothes are far more interesting.
