University Contest

Two students from Lincoln College are among the nine entrants in this year’s “Miss University” contest which will be held at the university hall next Tuesday morning. The contestants have been nominated by university clubs and hostels, and this is the first year Lincoln College students have entered. The girls are Misses Judith Bolger, Barbara Clark, Tania Sterling, Brigid Mcßae, Christine Cooper, Elizabeth Hancock, Sue McKenzie, Sue Cummack, and Lee Leng Whong. Misses Cooper and McKenzie are the Lincoln College entrants. They will each model three garments and will be judged on personality, poise, appearance, and ability to represent the university. The winner will compete in a national contest in Dunedin later in the year. Judges for the Canterbury finals will be Mr E. Sarginson, a Christchurch photographer, Miss B. Preck, a boutique owner, and Miss Aroha Manawatu, last year’s “Miss Canterbury.” Mr David McPhail will be the compere.
