WELLINGTON, May 1
The Government caucus began today a detailed discussion of financial matters in preparation for this year’s Budget. The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) told reporters this evening that the afternoon had been spent dealing with financial matters. Tentative decisions had been made which would eventually form part of the overall budgetary picture, he said. The two-day caucus meeting considered financial and budgetary matters first because the Minister of Finance (Mr Muldoon) would not be able to attend Friday’s meeting.
The caucus would continue its financial discussion tonight before moving on to planned legislation for the forthcoming session of Parliament.
. The special caucus committees which were appointed to consider industrial relations, legal aid and the lowering of the drinking age. voting age and age of majority are not expected to report ; to the full meeting of the cau■cus until tomorrow.
