SUCCESSFUL APPEAL

Baisweil Land Policy

Mr G. G. B. Harty was successful in an appeal to the Special Town and Country Planning Appeal Board yesterday against a refusal by the Paparua County Council of a building permit to enable him to put up a house on a six-acre section at Old Tai Tapu Road. No evidence against the appeal was - offered by the council. Mr J. R. Milligan said that the Halswell section of the county planning scheme prohibited building not connected with farming on blocks of less than 50 acres in the rural A zone. Since the amalgamation of the two counties, there had been a change of policy. Subject to conditions, houses were now allowed on sites of less than 50 acres. Mr G. W. Rountree appeared for Mr Harty.
