Delay On Gorse Clearing
i Because of the high level of Lake Ellesmere work on clearing gorse was held up on some farms where the occupiers would like to have the [job done before winter, the | Ellesmere County Council’s I noxious weeds inspector (Mr jW. MacKenzie) told the council meeting last week. I He suggested that the council might use its influence with the North Canterbury Catchment Board to have the lake outlet opened, ' Members did not think, however, that the board could be prevailed upon to open a; [cut until the winter lake level was reached.
