5016 Refugees Resettled
During the first 10 months of last year 3016 refugees were resettled in various [parts of the world under the [World Council of Churches according to the lat[est issue of “Church and ’Community”, the official publication of the National Council of Churches. I The most—o4B—came from [Jugoslavia, with 930 from [Spain, 542 from Italy and 482 'from Greece. The country that received [the most refugees was the United States, 2844. Other [countries in order included Australia 1760, Canada 196, Sweden 81, Brazil 37, and New Zealand 35. Of the 35 who came to New Zealand, 19 were Chinese from Hong Kong and the rest were from Egypt, Greece, Germany and France. All 930 refugees from Spain went to the United States and the 948 from Jugoslavia were all resettled in Australia. Australia also received 408 from Greece, 113 from Egypt. 92 from Austria, 42 from Israel, 32 from Germany and the rest from Belgium, Ceylon, Hong Kong, Iran, Italy, Lebanon, Turkey and other countries.
