JAPANESE BUTCHERS

Party Begins N.Z. Tour (N Z. Press Association) i INVERCARGILL, April 18. A party of 17 Japanese (wholesale and retail butchers started a 12-day tour of New 'Zealand with an inspection of the Alliance freezing works [at Invercargill today. The tour is part of the New Zealand Meat Board's mutton and lamb promotion campaign in Japan.

The Japanese party will follow meat production from the birth of the lamb through to processing and marketing. The party represents the AllJapan Meat Industry Co-oper-ative Association. Touring with it is Mr J. Leach, of the Meat Board. The party this afternoon visited the Southland Frozen Meat Company’s works at Makarewa, and tomorrow will travel to Milford Sound, flying to Christchurch on Sunjday.

Girl Guide Biscuits.—One million packets of Girl Guide biscuits were bought by New ! Zealanders this year, the Girl 'Guides Association said today. The biscuit sale is the sole national appeal each year for funds for the organisation.— I (P A.)
