8-Wicket Win By St Bede’s

An unbeaten innings of 63, which included six 6s and six 4s, by ,T. Hayes, enabled St Bede’s College to defeat St Patrick’s College (Wellington) by eight wickets in Wellington yesterday. St Pat’s gained a lead of 22 runs on the first innings, but good bowling by M. Gillooly. who took seven for 35, routed St Pats for 77 In its second innings, and Hayes's whirlwind knock won the game with time to Spare.

Scores.—St Bede’s 116 (A. Scarlett 27, T. White 26) and 98/2 (Hayes 63 not out), St Pat’s 138 and 77 (Gillooly 7/35).

Croquet Play-off.—Mrs K. Woollett (Ohakune) beat her husband, K. Woollett, in a playoff to win the invitation croquet event in Auckland.

Skl-lng Record.—M. Wolf (East Germany) set a world ski jump record at Plancia, Jugoslavia, with a leap of 165 metres.
