South Island Writers Meet

The fourth South Island writers’ school, to be held early in February, 1970, and the Young Writers Award (launched in 1968) were dis- | cussed at the general meetling of the South Island Writers’ Association. Both these i events are sponsored bilennially by the association. ■ Mr G. S. Troup was the | judge of a competition for ;an article on the subject: “What I would have liked my life of have been,” Mrs P. Bayne of Kaiapoi was first and Mrs S. Gill, of Christchurch, second. Officers elected were: Patron, Dame Ngaio Marsh; president, Mr J. D. Watson; senior vice-president, Mrs S. Gill: junior vice-prsident, Mr G. S. Troup; secretary, Mrs D. V. Gallaher; treasurer, Mrs G. Comber; committee, Mr A. Evans (immediate past president), Mrs E. Pegler, Mrs P. Hullett, Mrs I. Clark and Mrs G. Cree.
