Governor’s Bay Water Supply

Sir.—Could the Christchurch City Council’s water department have water carted to Governor’s Bay by tanker to fill storage tanks in individual houses at a cost to the consumer? The present dry spell must surely be bringing a risk to health, as most houses have septic tanks but almost no water to flush lavatory pans.—Yours, etc., WATER BOY. March 10, 1968. [The Town Clerk of Christchurch (Mr M. B. Hayes) replies: “As Governor’s Bay is in the Mount Herbert county area, this matter is initially one for the county council. 1 don’t doubt that the City Council would be happy to supply water to the county council if it were approached.”]
