Inspection Of School
An inspection of the area outside the Marshland School in Prestons Road will be made by a sub-committee of the finance, traffic and by-laws committee of the Waimairi County Council. The committee’s report, presented to the council last evening, said the chief traffic officer (Mr A. Goldsmith) did not see the need for a pedestrian crossing outside the school because of the limited number of children crossing at this point. It would also appear there was no justification for a “No Stopping” sign outside the school. The committee also recommended the Russley School Committee be asked to indicate the support there would be for parents providing supervision at a pedestrian crossing outside the school in Yaldhurst Road. The Ministry of Transport had written saying that if a crossing was installed it was desirable that it should be supervised.
