Ilam Traffic

Sir, —Now that the university term has started, may we draw attention to a possible traffic hazard in Creyke Road? At the vehicle entrance to the university, beside the new chemistry block, we have a fairly narrow entrance at an odd angle to Creyke Road, with hundreds of cars, motorcycles, bicycles and the occasional trucks using it each day. The hazard is the bus stop on the far side of the road, and cars parked right up to the same stop. We suggest prohibiting parking, say, another hundred feet back from the bus stop on either side. This would allow the buses to have a clear run into and out of the side of the road. It could prevent a possible accident through cars coming out and finding a bus parked half-way across the road, directly opposite the Ham entrance. “No stopping," of course, has been introduced on the opposite'side of the road.—Yours, etc., RESIDENTS.

March 3, 1969. [The chairman of the Waimairi County Council (Cr D. B. Rich), replies: “Your correspondent’s letter will be referred to the senior traffic officer for a report on the fea-

sibility of implementing the suggestion made.”]
