Talking By Bracelet
(N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON, March 11. For hospital patients who can no longer communicate In the usual way the Waikato Hospital has the lateit aid—word bracelets. The bracelets, thought up and presented to the hospital by the Waikato Hospital Sunshine League, a hospital auxiliary body, are particularly useful in the intensive-care and coronary units, and also for patients who are deaf or unable to talk. All the patient has to do is to turn his bracelet to the word he requires to get his meaning or trouble across to a nurse.
Sample words on the bracelets are: Pain, drink, food, bed-pan, radio, television, and the names of parts of the body in which the patient may be feeling pain.
