TIMING WAS BAD

The announcement of the West Indies team to tour England during the third day of the test against New Zealand was a mistake, in the opinion of G. S. Sobers. He said that when a team was to be announced during a test it was bound to have some phsycological effect on players.

Asked about the omission of R. M. Edwards from the team to visit England, Sobers said that as captain he could make no comment. However, he said that Edwards has bowied well and must have been disappointed.
