TROTTING Twinkle Hanover Is Still In Favour
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) ADELAIDE. The top South Australian reinsman, W. Shinn, who drove Free Hall to victory in the 1957 Inter-Dominion Championship at Wayville, considers the New Zealand-bred pacer, Twinkle Hanover, might win in spite of his second-row draw.
Shinn believes that the horses drawn on the front row might go “mad” early and this would give R. M. Cameron, the owner-driver of Twinkle Hanover, the perfect trail. ■A. Holberton, who has been a top trainer in South Australia for a number of years, is another who believes Twinkle Hanover can win the title. Yet of seven tipsters in Adelaide for the championship only Keith McClure, from the Melbourne "Herald” thinks Twinkle Hanover can win. Most think Twinkle Hanover will probably fill a place but only McClure, wha has seen titles all over Australia and New Zealand, thinks the gelding will win. Australians have been quick to discard the New Zealand pacer, Leading Light, from their final calculations, but now, with the cooler weather settling in, the chestnut must be given a good chance. Likely Favourite Another New Zealand-bred pacer. Adios Court (South Australia), which has drawn No. 1 for the final looks certain to start favourite. Adios Court did not miss a place in any of the qualifying heats. His driver, C. Webster, is a Wayville specialist and he will be sure to prevent the Deep Adios horse from getting pocketed, which can prove suicidal on the small track. Another South Australian pacer, Bylaw, from No. 2 on the front row. will have a chance. Bylaw will be driven by W. Webster. If he shows any of his customary dash from the start and leads the field early Webster will hake sure any horse which attemtps to get past will have a tough job. Webster excels on his home circuit, where he has landed many winners for Bylaw's trainer, R. Norman. Yet Web-! ster has yet to drive the winner of an Inter-Dominion.
Bold David, from Victoria, after shuffling from the mark last Saturday night, covered extra ground in the running but was still running on at the end of 15 furlongs. In the heats he recorded an
impressive victory over Adios Court at a mile and a half. Boid David, from the outside of the front row, might again be caught wide in running but will certainly give his backers a good run. Richmond Lass, which only qualified ’qt the final last Saturday .nght with a sterling win, is anoiher which should run well. Top Driver The top South Australian reinsman, K. Brook, will be sure to give the mare every chance. Fair Deed has impressed in the qualifying divisions but could find the task of going around such horses as Twinkle Hanover and Bold David a bit difficult over the 12 furlongs tonight. Laradoc and Scot King have been matching the best of them in the heats but with 1 back-row draws in the final could find the task a bit too tough. Major Winston was impressive in winning over 12 fur-1 longs in the heats, but his’ driver, L. Moulds, will be un-i able to dictate the terms as he did in his heat. Moonstone; Bay is another which disap-; j pointed after winning a heat | ■ on the first night. * BANKS PENINSULA RACING 1 CLUB (INC.)
