The successful appointee will be required to assist with the direction of the Council’s policies for promoting educational research, development and advisory services. He will be expected not only to undertake research on his own account but also to offer assistance to university colleagues and others engaged in research throughout the country. He will also be expected to collaborate with the many organisations, both here and overseas, with which the Council is associated in seeking improvements in education. The salary for this position will be within the range offered to an associate professor in a New Zealand university (85800-87300 from Ist April). EXECUTIVE OFFICER This is a newly created position. The duties will Include taking charge of the Council’s accounts, budget planning, sales promotion, stock control and the indenting of supplies, arranging quotations, contracts and publishing agreements, and also administration of the Council’s offices. The salary offered will be within the range offered to a senior administrative assistant in New Zealand universities' ($3400-$4000). It is anticipated that the appointee will be a young, qualified or nearly qualified accountant but experience in office management or educational administration or teachine would be considered an advantage. Or (2) Studies of the supply and distribution of people with various educational qualifications, pupil progress in relation to courses chosen in secondary schools and at the tertiary level, graduation rates, etc. Or (3) Studies in the provision for industrial and technological training and retraining, course evaluation in technological institutes, apprenticeship or trade training and vocational education generally. The salary for each of these positions will be within the range of that offered to lecturers in New Zealand universities ($3lOO-84800). In his early development in the company, he will learn the present systems by actually undertaking cost accounting work and following through all of the management decision-making processes. As soon as practicable he will commence developing new systems either personally or with a Systems Analyst to be appointed, and will establish these systems in all companies of the group. Aged 20-30 years, applicants are expected to be dynamic, progressive young men or woinen who have definite intention to complete qualifications and who are interested to develop a knowledge of computers with Bureau guidance. Proven, successful experience in the use of accounting, budgetary control, and statistical methods will be a strong advantage.
