They must have had sound general experience in the field of internal medicine and adequate experience and ability in both teaching and research. The position is non-residential and has been designated as “Specialist’’ status. The salary scale prescribed by the Hospital Employment (Medical Officers’) Regulations for a Specialist is: $6020-68100 per annum by nine automatic annual increments. These regulations provide for progression beyond the maximum automatic rate of $BlOO per annum as recognition of professional excellence or special responsibilities. The commencing salary within this scale will be determined by the DirectorGeneral of Health in accordance with the appointee's qualifications and experience. UNIVERSITY VACANCIES MONASH UNIVERSITY MANAGER UNIVERSITY BOOKSHOP APPLICATIONS are invited for the position of Bookshop Manager. The University Bookshop was established on the campus in 1965 and caters for the requirements -of University staff and students in the fields of text, reference books and stationery as well as operating as a general bookshop. Turnover is currently in the vicinity of $500,000 p.a., and this may be expected to increase with the growth of the University. At the end of 1968 the student population and full-time staff jointly totalled about 10,000. Applicants should be persons who have demonstrated managerial ability in a responsible position desirably in the book trade, who are familiar with the overall problems of financial and stock control, and who have some understanding of the general structure of university administration and objectives. The successful applicant will be responsible for the efficient professional and administrative management of the bookshop and will be supported by accounting services. He will be responsible and will report solely to the recently constituted Monash Bookshop Board and will be its Executive Officer. The policy of the bookshop by way- of desired levels of profitability and the services to students and staff will be a matter for the Board in consultation witn the Executive Officer and will be determined having regard to all circumstances.
