Blackett Gains Shooting Prize
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. The 32-year-old Upper Hutt marksman, G. A. Blackett, who will lead the Queen’s 50 in the final rounds today, won the Rothmans grand aggregate in the national shooting championships at Trentham yesterday.
A farm contractor, Blackett had a total of 665 after the completion of the three morning rounds, over the second stage of the Masefield aggregate.
In second place over-all was R. Cammock (Waipukurau), on 661. I. R. Ballinger (Sydenham), who is favoured to win the Ballinger Belt today, was third with 660. His Second Victory
Blackett had a second splendid success when he topped the Bisley aggregate, which was shot over two rounds, of 800 yd and 900 yd. Ballinger, not to be outdone, took the Trentham aggregate over 300 yd, 500 yd, and 600 yd.
