Death Toll Now 250

The death toll from the bombing of the market place at Ozu Abam by a Nigerian jet aircraft has risen from 120 to 250, the Biafran authorities have announced. More than 100 of those injured when the plane bombed the crowded market place on Wednesday have since died in various hospitals, the authorities told reporters. In one hospital at Abriba, eight miles from Ozu Abam, 70 of those wonded in the raid died yesterday, the authorities said.

Among those killed in the raid was the wife of Biafra’s Director of Posts and Telecommunications (Mr Aluna Nkele).
